The Catalysis Science and Technology Division of the American Chemical Society is pleased to invite its members to nominate candidates for two awards with descriptions that follow. You may also find the solicitation of the ACS Catalysis Lectureship for the Advancement of Catalytic Science at the end of this email.
Exceptional Achievements in Catalysis
This award will recognize excellence in scientific and professional leadership and service in catalysis science and technology by an individual. The nominees for this award are expected to have demonstrated pioneering research accomplishments in the design or synthesis of catalysts and/or chemical or mechanistic characterization of catalysts leading to recognized advancements in our understanding and application of catalysis. The award will emphasize the impact of a researcher’s work in the broad field of catalytic chemistry and catalytic materials or molecules. Preference is given to nominations that highlight work that has not received national recognition in the past. The nominee’s impact in the field through service and professional leadership should also be highlighted. The nominee must also have been a member of the ACS Catalysis Science and Technology division for a two-year period preceding their nomination. The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities, and educational background.Nominations for the award are due December 6, 2024.
The nomination should include:
● A nomination letter emphasizing the nominee’s achievements relevant to the nomination [1000 words]● Two letters seconding the nomination [500 words]
● The nominee’s CV [5 pages]
● A complete list of scholarly work relevant to the nomination
● At least one letter writer must be a member of the ACS Division of Catalysis Science and Technology (CATL)
The award will be presented annually at the Fall meeting of the ACS at a special session of the ACS Division of Catalysis Science and Technology. Early Career in Catalysis
This award will recognize and encourage accomplishments and innovation of unusual merit by an individual in early stages of their career. A nominee must have received their Ph.D. since January 1, 2015 (requests for extensions in consideration of exceptional life events can be addressed to the Division prior to award submission). A nominee must also have been a member of the ACS Catalysis Science and Technology division for a two-year period preceding their nomination. Creativity and impact of the researcher in the early stages of their independent career along with service to the catalysis community will be the primary criteria for the award. The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities, and educational background.Nominations for the award are due December 6, 2024.

ACS Catalysis Lectureship for the Advancement of Catalytic ScienceIn 2025, one award will be given in each of the three areas of catalysis covered by ACS Catalysis, namely,
Heterogeneous catalysis
Homogeneous catalysis
Biocatalysis or enzymology
To make a nomination or self-nominate, nomination remarks must include a 500-word, or shorter, description articulating the impact of the publication that has appeared during the last three years (in 2022-2024, either in ASAP or in Issue) in ACS Catalysis, which is being recognized in this nomination. One figure may be added.The nomination deadline for the ACS Catalysis Lectureship award is December 31, 2024. (please note this is different from the two division awards deadline listed above)

The heterogeneous catalysis award recipient will be presented annually at the Fall meeting of the ACS at a special session of the ACS Division of Catalysis Science and Technology. The awardee will receive $1,000 as honorarium and up to $2,500 in travel support. The Division of Organic Chemistry will host the biocatalysis and homogeneous catalysis recipients in a special session.
